Here is some news from the missions. I’ve also added a QR code linking to MANY photos from The School of the Faith in Africa. I hope you'll notice not just the events and classrooms, but the faces—people whose lives are being transformed through a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith.
Today, adults are being formed through our programs in more than forty dioceses across Africa. One of the greatest blessings has been our expanding work with communities of religious sisters. Many young women enter religious life with generous hearts but have had little opportunity to receive solid catechetical formation. Helping them build a strong foundation in the faith is one of our greatest joys.
Why do we place such emphasis on Catholic formation? Because throughout much of Africa, many deeply believing people are vulnerable to self-proclaimed "prophets" and "healers" who exploit fear and superstition, squeezing money out of the poor. Our mission is simple: to strengthen Catholics in their faith through sound formation. As we often say, "Keeping Catholics Catholic."
Our work in Latin America continues as well. Father Pablo's parish has been restored and is thriving, and our full-time catechists in Guatemala and El Salvador continue bringing the Gospel to remote communities where a priest may only visit once or twice a year.
Finally, I would like to ask for your help. To launch our health insurance program for poor priests, we invested nearly all of our financial reserves, providing one year of coverage for ten priests (See the informative video about this). It was the right decision—but it has left us with very limited resources for future projects. If you are able, please consider making a gift to support this mission. It costs us about $1,485 to provide major medical insurance to a priest or sister for a full year. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue serving the Church where the need is greatest.
Thank you for your prayers and generosity. The people we serve may never know your name, but they remember their benefactors in prayer. I also remember you and your families each day at Holy Mass and in my personal prayers.
