Thy Kingdom Come!

Mexico City, June 2025

Hello from Mexico. I am rushing to get this to you before summer vacation, so the info and the pics might be a bit basic this time!

Following the advice of several friends, CANELA has decided to become a lot more present online. This means I’ve had to devote a considerable amount of time to recording videos recently. I’ll let you know as soon as the new video series is released. You can also follow our YouTube channel by opening the QR code on the back of this sheet. Please share the upcoming videos with people who might be interested in our work. We are told that this is the future of fundraising, and there is so much to do!

Holy Week in Mexico is exhausting for priests, but it was also blessed. As in previous years, we managed to distribute approximately 150 pairs of new shoes to the homeless through Padre Pablo.

Shortly before Holy Week, I cooked at a benefit dinner in Mexico City. The event was held to benefit the project for poor priests, so they can receive a modest salary and health insurance. We very much hope to cover these costs for at least five new Mexican priests before the end of the year.

The first textbook of The School of the Faith has finally been published in Swahili! It was a very difficult undertaking, as our first translator suddenly wanted to double his fees. We had to find a new team. Seven textbooks remain to be translated.

I enclose a prayer card for our new Pope with this letter. Please pray for him at least as much as you talk about him…! That’s a bit of advice I got years ago from a saintly Benedictine priest.

Mark your calendar! On September 15th at 1 p.m. (New York time), we will be broadcasting the yearly Mass for all friends of CANELA, live from the main altar of the Basilica of Our Lady of Gaudalupe in Mexico City. You can attend this Mass virtually or watch it afterwards by scanning the second QR code on the back of this sheet. And now I have to run!

I am praying for you…

Fr. Robert

P.S. To the extent possible, please consider our fundraising campaign for the Swahili translations of the Faith School textbooks. I need to raise approximately $2,500 for each volume; there are still seven volumes left!
